Wow, that's crazy. Not only will it take a while to clean that up ... but someone is going to have to go up the cliff and survey the rock structure. I'm guessing that the road stays closed until engineers/geologists can determine that the rock face is staying put. Big snow storm is coming tomorrow, too.

When highways are built through the mountains engineers crow about how they overcame "Mother Nature". Meanwhile "Mother Nature" smiles and every once in a while shows us all who's really in charge.
Good news is that nobody was hurt in the slide.

Latest news from CO is that I-70 is getting hit with a big snowstorm and the Eisenhower Tunnel has lost power. Not a great time to be traveling on I-70.

Welcome to winter.
People where I live are getting a crash course in it after years of mild winters.
10 inches of snow at my house and 8 degrees at ground level. Not expected to go above freezing until Wednesday and then snow returns again on Friday. Oh yeah, weather guessers are saying more snow next week.
Kind of entertaining to watch people who experienced a real winter in their lives try to drive.
When you say "go South", Id suggest all the way south to I-10. Even I-40 has it's nasty winter spots.
