I-80

Travel conditions for our 32' 5th wheel and 3500 Ram.......We are planning a trip from just outside San Francisco to the Salt Lake area in May. This will take us over the Donner Pass. For those who have been there and done that, go for it or plan another route? Thanks in advance for your advise.

I-80 would be the route to take, my boss just had his 43' dp pulling a toad over Donner without any problems. The road is clear and basically dry. Other routes like Highway 50 could be more of a problem with the mud/rock slides they had earlier and I do not know if they have cleared them all or not. I was at a project at south shore Lake Tahoe last week and near Cave Rock there are 3 or 4 boulders on the road that have been there for some time and they are bigger than my SUV.

Be aware that I80 through Nevada is the most boring stretch of road I have ever been on.
It goes up and down a lot.

Hear, hear! Crossing the Great Basin is alternating mountain ranges/desert flats...ad infinitum. And there's nothing...and I mean NOTHIN' out there.
