I quit (retired again)

Sept. 18th is my last day at work. I retired from this job in 2010 and hired back on in 2013 and at 67 yrs old figure I am now going to let the young studs have it all. I have been working for ADOT as a master mechanic for 24 years now so it's time to have some fun.

When I retired the first time I bought a Flagstaff BR19SC pop up and did a lot of touring and camping. (Single) Got married and traded in my pop up for a Micro Lite 35DS that my bride and I have fixed up pretty nice.

Loading out and heading up into the White Mountains of Arizona for a week plus of camping at Big Lake.

Congrats on retirement, your new bride and the road ahead! Remember, now it's all about the journey not the destination!

I retired on 1/12/14, at 60 on account of some health issues. I was working at 2 ful-time ministry positions! Now I am still working only 1 position until I retire from that, probably about 67, so I have several years to go yet. But, I am self-employed and contract to a not-for-profit as exec. director. That means I can set my own hours, and go fishing whenever I want. My wife of 31 years is my assistant, so when I go fishing, she goes, too and we close the office. It's a good arrangement for now, but . . . You know what "I'm retired" means? I was tired yesterday, and I'm tired again today. Re-tired! Enjoy your travels!

Congrats. Sounds familar I retired at 60 then went back to work for the same place 6 weeks later (Law Enforcement in a small town), turned 66 this past month and am starting to look forward to the Retired Again thing fairly soon. My wife and have a 2004 Wildcat that we have used maybe 20 times so I am beginning to think it may be time to start enjoying the 5er a little more!

Cant wait. Looking forward to getting out and not having to be any where on any given day. I only have 188 Fridays left to work.

I did something similar. I was traveling too much (29 weeks out of the country in a year and no trips longer than 10 days). I asked for a less tiring job and was refused. I retired 3 weeks before my 59th birthday.

Three months later I was back in my old group as an outside contract employee (aka "job shopper") and put in 18 months at the job they wouldn't give me as an employee!

After "final" retirement and two years goofing around, I went to work as a bus driver for our local transit agency. Two years of that and I really retired. Now 8 years in and no more "back-to-work-itis". Unfortunately, no longer RVing either.

Good luck. I retired and moved to Moab and then ended up working again on a contract basis; but a job most would die for.....
This was my office on wheels, and the views each day were spectacular

And, just the other day, offered a contract job as a consultant to an agency in Pocatello. Winter's coming....so my slogan is never say never....

But enjoy it; it can be fun!

Gonna take some time off until the Cotton harvest starts then I will be driving the truck that brings the cotton module in to the gin for ginning.
The season around here can run into the first part of January some years.
