Man... The Wind!

Traveling through Wyoming for a family visit later this weekend in the midwest... I've towed through northern Colorado and Wyoming dozens of times but never with wind like this. We're staying in a campground tonight in Rawlins and its gusting to 60mph. Setting up was about as miserable as it gets.

I'll be cleaning grit out of my ears for days.

I only was stationed in northern CA and Nevada when I was 'out west'. Glad I never experienced the horrific winds I keep reading about on this forum out West.

I used to work in the field in Wyoming all the time. First rule is never open 2 doors of your truck at the same time, because everything in it will blow away.

That was pre-frontal passage wind. Glad to be over that. Had white caps in the toilet.

I stayed at an Rawlins RV park a couple years ago right at the end of the season. High winds like you described and temps just slightly below freezing at night.

Fun tomes.

One of my wheel chocks blew away that night. Probably went to Laramie.

I second the Windy app. I use it for sailing in central Ohio. The kite boarders around here do too. The only more accurate info I have found is from live wind stations.

The hour x hour is pretty good.
