Page AZ or Lake Powell AZ?

I have plans to stay in the Moab Utah NP area for a week and looking at another stop on the way home to Phoenix.

Lake Powell and Page Arizona. (May16, 2019 timeframe)
I will have my 38 ft motorhome and tow car and wondering if anyone else with a motorhome has been in that area?

Can you suggest any good or better campgrounds to stop for 1 or 2 nights?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not worried about the drive and can handle most narrow roadways but still would like to hear from others who have driven the area have to say.
The picture shows the way I will come in and out of the area.

Thanks

P.S.
If anyone wants to join us we have reservation at the Zion River Resort in Virgin Utah May 8 and leave on May 15 2019

We stayed at Wahweap campground at Lake Powell not far from Page. Just a short drive to Page if you need to go to town.

That's a good campground.
Is their many restaurants in the area if we wanted to eat out.
I'm guessing a few hamburger places. Does the resort there have any restaurants?
I will do more checking thanks

another vote for wahweap! the lake powell hotel is just a mile or so away and it has one or two restaurants. the town of page is only maybe 5 miles away and it has all amenities. i believe the hwy is AZ 89. we have towed out 40+ foot 5th wheel on it up to page several times. there is a summit south of page that you will need to go up and over but it is not a problem! they truck those hug houseboats on a trailer up that road to the lake!

Thank you. This is the type of information that will make me sleep easier at night. It's funny after living in Arizona since 2004 I have never been up in that area. So that is what we have on the 2019 trip calendar so far.
Been up in your neck of the woods, Payson, Show Low, Pine Top.
Any other great areas you have visited with your 5th wheel?

Hi Trent
We should be in Vegas and staying the night on Nellis AFB then on to Zion River Campground. I just finished with reservations for Wahweap Campground on Lake Powell for 2 nights.
2019 Plans have been rolling along so far.
March and par to April done.
May is done.
Now we have to rethink June, July, August and September.
Probably will stay on the west coast this year.

Thank you. Have been to Meteor Crater off of I-40 which is way south and east where I'm talking about.

Now the Railroad RV Resort in Williams is a great staging area for anyone wanting to visit the Grand Canyon over 2 or 3 days.
Used this campground many times and take the train at the resort to the south rim of the Grand Canyon.

We made our decision Wahweap is the one for a few nights.

Zion River is a good choice, been there many times.
Wahweap is great, easy pull throughs and great views of the lake.

Thank you for insuring I mad the right choices.
Mid May still will be cool in the evening but before the summer crowds.

Have you ever used the tour busses private going in to the park?
Trying to find out if I need to find a Private Tour or use the one that the park Service has. (I think they have one)
I was told you can't drive your car in on some roads. Does this sound right?

Thanks for the information and hope other will help answer the other questions.

2 yrs ago we stayed at the Wahweap RV and camp ground (888 896 3829) in Page Az. on lake Powel. Iin our 7+ years of traveling it was one of the nicest campgrounds we've stayed at. Every site was tiered so you had a view of the lake and butes!

Iggy - Zion River RV is one of our favorite RV Parks. Easy drive to Zion NP and take the shuttle into the valley. I dare you to hike to Angels Landing. I did it last year at age 74. Also easy day trips to Grand Canyon NP North Rim one day, then another day trip to Bryce and Cedar Breaks. Don't go through the tunnel with RV from Zion East to Route 89. Cost too much.

Page, AZ has lots of great restaurants just a few miles from Wahweap. If the "Dam Bar Cafe" is still there, try the pretzel-crusted grilled pork chop - - fantastic, and lots of good beers on tap.

I'm pretty sure that's where we stayed; it's been a few years. OP: you do know that you can boondock right on the lake, right? Just a thought. Make reservations early for a campground.
