We have stayed at a place called VanMall Rv park which is across the river near the Vancouver mall in Vancouver. It was nice enough. As for Portland there is a nice park at Jansen Beach RV park which friends of our really liked and used to visit often. I think it would be my first choice. Outside of that you might try looking at campgroundreviews.com

Silver Falls State Park is a wondrous place, just east of Salem.
though, not exactly in the Portland area, it's about 60 miles away.
but it's an awesome place and Oregonians try to keep it secret.
Thanks for the info. We will stay in the Portland area for just a couple of days while we vist our daughter then intend to do some real camping in Oregon and Washington. Love the PNW.
