Recommended Activities from Zion River Resort

We are going to be staying at Zion River Resort the last week of March. Three RVs, two seniors, four adults, six dogs and maybe a couple kids and grandkids.

We are all of us first timers to the area, and looking for ideas for day trips. We'll be here a week, but don't want to have to move the trailers.

How feasible is it to make day trips from ZRR to Arches, Bryce, Canyonlands, etc.? Also, any particular activities that you find enjoyable, or can't-miss sights?

Arches and Canyonlands are way too far for enjoyable day trips. Bryce is doable but it won't leave much time to see anything. In September/October we spend 4 days each in Bryce and Zion (part of a 45 day trip) and still didn't get to see everything. Also Bryce Canyon is over 800 feet in elevation so March is likely to have snow.

You might consider Parry Lodge, 89 East Center Street, Kanab, Utah 84741
Since you are staying on the west side of Zion it's a bit of a drive- about
55 miles.
We spent several hours there and liked it a lot more than I would have
imagined. The Parry Lodge is where John Wayne and John Ford and so many other golden age of Hollywood stars stayed when they were making
those iconic western movies. The lodge is a virtual history place.
They have hundreds of autographed photos on the walls in the dining room and front desk. Also Kanab Utah has a visitor center that has tons of Hollywood displays. Finally- if she's still working there- we met Jackie Hamblin Rife who was a stunt woman/double for many of those movies. She works in the Kanab visitor center. Also across the street from the Parry Lodge is the Movie set museum which is free and worth an hour.
