Redfish lake idaho

We stayed the night at redfish lake this week. We were in the sunny gultch campground which was awesome.

When we were checking in, the host asked for my id. She said they have to check id because people are booking the sites and selling them for a profit. She said that last week, someone had paid $180 for $20 site and they had to turn him away because the reservation wasn't in his name. The person who is registered on recreation.gov must be present.

Wanted to give everyone a heads up so they don't get swindled. They are hoping that it will discourage the scalpers and make it easier for individuals to get a site. They said that if it doesn't get better, they are going to switch to a lottery.

This came out in the RV news a couple of weeks ago you are the first person I have read about that actually verified its happening. Good on them for checking ID to bad the folks turned away fell for the scam. Now days you have to check everything.

Scalpers getting $180 … that's insane. Redfish is a beautiful place, but only one of many. We were by Redfish Lake last week also – mid-week … too crowded for our liking. Noticed a lot of Oregon plates out there. We stayed a night at a free dispersed site next to Sunny Gultch then left in the morning … too many people. Decided to move over to Lowman area and found a nice, empty dispersed site on the Payette River.

The Sawtooths are cool.
Someday I hope more than a handful of sockeye salmon make up to Red Lake.
Some dams will be coming out in our lifetimes.
