Rough roads

Is it just me, or the rtes I-40, I-5 out west bad roads. We just got back from a trip to Ca. Grand canyon, s.Ca &n Ca. In our 2110 Gtown 337. The trip was great except for the rough roads. broke 2 inside lights,3pieces of moulding comming off, a million new rattles, awater leak a left front cap . A wall panel starting to come loose. Other than that had a great time. Rode the train to The grand canyon, Went to the Seabee Museum in Port Hueneme Ca. Very nice. Went to Morro bay, Ca. Nice. Did my 58 yr class reunion at Lakeport, /ca. //had a great time. Visited friends in Santa Maria, Ca, Napa, Ca. and Redding, Ca. then came back home. took a month to do it.

I took I-40 out to California, hit same places you did about just not lakeport or Redding. I -40 is the roughest Rd. I have been on next to I-5 in Calif. Those roads with the rest of USA interstate highways all need to be redone. I had to drive in the left lane until I saw someone behind me. The truck lanes are just all broke up in most areas. Same with I-85 in Virginia, I always stay in the left lane as much as possible but do not want to impede traffic, so a lot of looking back.

Rough roads.

I found if you drive inbetween lanes, straddle the lane diver it was alot smoother, inside lane smoother too.

Some roads are washboards.... some seem to have grooves for only cars.... some have pot holes every few feet .... and some the concrete is coming up in chunks.

We had a new road put in going 30 miles and Highway dept put cross grooves in it every few inches..... they said that this was to 'help' get the rain and snow off ...... we don't get that much rain or snow..... when driven on it feels like a tire or two is flat and ready to fall off and the front end is out of alignment.

Most of our roads out here in California are horrible. And by most I mean ALL.

IMO, those are good reasons to get off the main freeways and highways and travel the old 2 lanes.
...or slow down and enjoy the trip.

x2 on going the SCENIC ROUTE just slow down and don't try to do 500 miles a day in order to see the whole USA in 30 days.

I was shocked by how bad the roads are in California now. I hadn't been back for ten years, but they obviously aren't spending money on roads. We had trim come off our almost new Coachmen class C and did spend a lot of time in the left lanes...
