Route suggestions

We will be traveling to Phoenix, AZ from NE North Carolina the end of Feb 2019. I’ve planned several different routes but am concerned about winter storms. I-40 would be the most direct route but goes through areas prone to snow storms. The more southerly route I-20/10 are longer. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

I used Charlotte to Phoenix, I only get about 20 miles different between the 2 routes.
That said If you are not making reservation look at weather before you leave, That time of years with reservation I would do south route.

I'd do I20 to I10 to Phoenix. Looks like about the same drive time with less than 100 miles difference.

At that time of year, you still might run into snow in Dallas or El Paso, but at least most of the rv parks are open. Granted, driving through west Texas can be very boring.

I would not do I40 in the winter. We don't even do it in our 4WD SUV going back and forth to TX. I10 is much better.
