RV parks near Taos NM

I'm considering heading to Taos this summer. Haven't been there in quite a while. I'm not really interested in going into the 2 or so that are IN Taos proper, but looking for something a bit out.

I've seen 2 - https://www.rvtaoscanyonstop.com about 13 miles east of Taos (appears to be under recent management change?)

and the other https://www.taosmontebellorvpark.com in El Prado - just NW of Taos.

My concern is getting a 40' travel trailer in any of these places - those two look ok. The ones in town I'm pretty sure from looking at satellite pics they are just a wee bit small to get something 40' in with a 22' truck. I'm also concerned about turning the rig from US64 and making the turn onto Paseo El Pueblo Norte in downtown Taos. Looks like a pretty sharp, and yes, there appears to be a right turn lane that goes onto Pueblo Norte, but those are pretty much 2 lane roads. So somewhat concerning. That, and the RV park in El Prado looks pretty "nekkid"

Both of the above say they have 50amp sites.

Anyone been to either of these in the last year or so? I'm curious how they are. Also how it is pulling a large rig through downtown Taos, if I go to El Prado.

We stayed at Sierra Hermosa CG in Questa, NM, about 20 mi. north of Taos. Thoroughly enjoyed the CG and the area. Lots of good hiking, fishing, and wildlife. The drive through Taos wasn't bad...moderate traffic.

We have a large rig and have stayed at Taos Valley RV Park which is in town but a bit off the main road and it was not bad, stayed twice but the 2nd time site was tight and a challenge to get in and out of.

Last September we stayed in Monte Bello and we really liked it, John the owner could not be more helpful, always there to take care of things, wonderful views and a very clean but small park so book early.

Taos RV Park right on the main drag has just been re-done and I believe new owners and is not run down like it used to be but that would be our last choice.

For the turn your concerned about if you're coming from Angle Fire take the by-pass which helps you avoid the tight turn in town but will take you right thru town more which with the construction they have been doing outs you in more traffic,

it's about 30 miles outside of taos but we stayed at what we thought was a very nice rv park in red river. there are several parks there. i think the one we stayed at was called road runner rv park. we liked it.

Another vote for any park in Red River. We go there about once a year and then take day trips to surrounding areas like Taos.

Thanks all!

We're thinking of going to the RV Taos Canyon Stop at Valle Escondido. A bit east of town - but avoid going thru town with the entire rig that way, also I'd assume might be a bit quieter and have some trees too.

Left a msg since they aren't open yet, hope they get back soon. Always like to have this wrapped up quick.

Taos Canyon Stop

We stayed at Taos Canyon Stop in 2021. We have a 37 ft class A Sportscoach 339ds towing a 2013 Chevrolet Captiva. They have 50 amp service and plenty of room to maneuver. Beautiful area. Coming from the east there are a few tight turns, but we’re manageable. Take it slow after leaving the two la e highway while entering the park. It was a little choppy. After you drop off your rig, and if you have time, recommend you stop at the roadside park and see the Palisade Sills.

Have a great time on your journey.

Road Runner RV park in Red River is a larger park and has several slots for large RV's. We have stayed there several years. Parents had a mobile home inside the park where they leased the land. It is a very nice park.

It depends what you're hoping to do in the area. We've stayed at Monte Bello RV Park just outside of Taos Pueblo on Hwy 64. Huge sites, walking trails through the desert, close to Taos Pueblo, etc. Enjoy Taos, one of our favorite places in the USA!

A third vote for 4K River Ranch in Red River. We've been going there every year for the past three or four, and have been quite happy.

OTOH, we've never stayed in (nor toured) Taos. (We're from Albuquerque.)
