Saddlehorn CG in Colorado National Monument

Has anyone stayed in Saddlehorn CG inside Colorado National Monument?
We have a 30' Rockwood and friends have 35'. Was wondering if the roads inside are doable for Rv's and if the sites are suitable for our size rigs.
Thank you

Haven't been there, but the Google satellite view appears to have some pull through sites, although the limit is 40' https://www.google.com/maps/place/Sa...4d-108.7328482
More information about the campground can be found here:

Hi,

We stayed there once and the campground is tight but doable...we have a 35' 5th wheel. We did have to change sites from what we had reserved as the site we had reserved wouldn't work for our set-up. Also, on one of the corners we got the side of the 5th wheel brushed up pretty good by some 'trees' but there were also a lot of vehicles to maneuver past on that corner as well. There is a tunnel on the way up to the campground that requires tall vehicles to drive down the center...but I don't remember the height...our 5th wheel is almost 13' at the AC.

We're headed back that way later this summer but plan to stay here: https://cpw.state.co.us/placestogo/p...taCamping.aspx as we figure it's much easier.

Happy camping!

CO National Monument

The James Robb Colorado River state park has a nice campground in Fruita, CO, (one of 3 sections of the state park) just outside the entrance to the monument if you’re worried about navigating the monument roads.

I've stayed in this campground many times in my 34' Fifth Wheel, many spots are tight but workable, absolutely amazing place if you've never visited before. Great hiking with dogs nearby in McInnis Canyons (Devils Canyon) trail system right down the road. No issues with roads or tunnels. Make sure to drive the whole road through the monument.

We did not camp in the park. It was very beautiful park. Several short hikes. Seen quite a few mountain sheep. Lots of bicyclists on the roads. Enclosing photo
of tunnel
Safe travels

Ditto on James M Robb. Don’t recommend Island Park section. It’s located right next too I70. Reminder you do need to pay a daily entry fee per person per day
