San Antonio to Quincy, WA

We're considering a trip to Quincy, Wa. on the Columbia River this summer. We have an FR3 with a V-10 engine and did some driving through the mountains in Southern Cali.

We'd appreciate suggestions and caveats as far as routing is concerned. I'm not thrilled with long pulls through the mountains, but our FR3 did just fine last summer.

If you go I-84 thru Idaho and Oregon all you will have is the Blue Mountain's.

From LA Grand, OR to Pendleton OR., very nice drive most of the year.

6% grade into Pendleton.

Not much in UT. I am unsure about NM.

Just start off the top slow, are you pulling a toad?

I would drop a gear manually and use the engine to hold things back a touch.

The down grade in OR. is about 6 miles with two escape ramps which I doubt you will need but just so you know.

Pulled my rig over to the OR. coast last year without issue.

Hmmmm San Antone to Washington? For me I would go I-10 to Las Cruces, I-25 north to Buffalo Wy, I-90 to Billings Mt and straight west on I-94 to Washington.

Alternate catch I-40 west at Cheyenne to I-15 at SLC then I-84 on up.

Really not many mountains except that last stretch on I-84. Just a lot of traveling.

Not in that much of a hurry, I like to do around 400 miles per day since I do most of the driving. Of course that depends on if we're traveling through large cities, or in this case, very many mountains.

Lots to see in NM & Utah if you enjoy the outdoors.
