San Fran to Tetons/YSNP - best overnight stops?

Heading to the Tetons and Yellowstone in early June from San Francisco. Planning to take 3-4 days to travel with 250-300 miles a day. Looking for suggestions on good places to stay overnight on the way? Thinking rest stops (I know overnights are legal in Nevada) and maybe Walmart or other free places for the other couple of nights. Ideas?

Fernley RV park, Fernley, NV 250 Miles

If you have kids or pets there is a lot of room to run and play. Great walking paths and a pioneer museum on the grounds.
