Seattle Area Camping Spots

We are starting to plan a trip from Calgary Alberta down through British Columbia and to Seattle and have our spots picked for our stays in BC but would like some help with spots to pick in Washington State. We would like to have a good base to stay at for a week that is a close enough to drive into the City and to see the sights so to speak. We are not really interested in the concrete RV parks. If someone has ideas for locations for us to check out, maybe around Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park, Tiger Mountain State Forest? I just pulled those from Google Maps so basically we have no ideas as of yet. We have 3 small kids that will be 3, 6 and 8 next year and are pulling a PUP.

We are planning our trip for the summer of 2016 so we have some time to book in advance and do some research but would appreciate any insight people have to offer.

Just stay away from the Encore Tall Chief Resort in Falls City.
Advertised as full hookups. Not. Two different sites and both had electrical issues. Very run down and dusty.
