Slightly southern RV Parks in California
We are looking for a nice (not luxury but nice) RV park in the slightly southern part of California, on the coast, maybe in the morrow Bay Area? Just starting to do some research as this would most likely be next feb/march.
What we keep seeing online is parks with very few pics of the actual camp spots, but when we do see pics, they appear to be extremely tight.
We live in central Washington and have talked about just driving down to that general area in our car and check different parks, but hoping someone might have some personal knowledge so we can hit legit possibilities.
Thanks!

Morro Bay is in California's Central Coast. Don't make the mistake of calling it a part of Southern California, to the locals.[emoji33] I lived in the area for over 15 years.
We like Morro Dunes RV park because of its proximity to Morro Rock and surfing.
Unless it's a state beach campground, nearly all coastal RV parks have tight sites. Be sure to make reservations as soon as possible since there is no off-season for campsites in California, especially coastal campgrounds.

Thanks - LOL, we weren’t sure how to describe e that area.
Morrow Bay state park looked good to us, at least what we could see (again, Rey few campsite pics). It also appears there are “two morrow bay state parks”??

Morro Bay State Park and Morro Strand State Park, there are Parks in Morro Bay, both are excellent, both have full hook-ups and No hook ups available.
Morro Strand is a bit smaller, if you want more space Morro Bay SP it the way to go
If you want to walk the beach and visit Downtown, Morro Strand it the park to visit
Both are good but you will need to reserve 6 months in advance for the best sites.
We visit both parks multiple times a year and both are some of our favorites.
Note if you have a dog and want to walk the beach, you can't access the beach with pets even on a leash. However, north of Moro Strand (walking distance from the park) there is a beach where you can let your dogs off leash on the beach

Slightly southern RV Parks in California Central coast Morro Bay
We stay at Bay Pines just on the south edge of Morrow Bay, we have bikes so we like to ride into the State Park and Morrow Bay and beyond while the spaces are a bit tight very nice park with a few full timers.

My brother is currently staying at Morrow dunes I don't know how he does it but he made the reservations last month. I lived in Baywood park for several years when my dad had a gas station in San Luis Obispo. If your into tent camping there is Montana De Oro State camp.

Camping on the beach has great appeal. Plan months in advance and expect to be packed in like sardines.

Try searching for the park in YouTube. I was amazed at how many parks have videos. A lot actually do a drive by of all the camp sites. People love making videos!

RV Parks Morro Bay area
We also recommend the RV Park at Morro Bay State Park.
If you are coming South on US 101 approaching San Luis Obispo be advised that there is a long, steep downward grade (the Cuesta Grade) a few miles north of SLO. Make sure your brakes are in good working condition!! While towing my 30-foot TT a few years ago, the throttle on my Ford Van stuck wide open on that down-grade!! All I could do was put the tranny in neutral, let the engine rev to self-destruction, and nearly burn out my brakes.
If you are planning other stops on this journey, we recommend the KOA near Santa Cruz. Nice big sites with a variety of back-ins and pull throughs.
Farther south we recommend the Flying Flags RV Park in Buelton, with easy access to the quaint Danish village of Solvang. Great restaurants and lots of top notch wine tastings.
While at Morro Bay you may want to visit the Hearst Castle for a guided tour. Well worth the drive north on Coast Highway #1, about 1-1/2 hours or so.
