Solar Eclipse

Anyone else trying to get a camping spot in Jackson Hole and west to watch the eclipse?

Good luck. About the only option right now would be legal boondocking on NFS or BLM land. I saw people in the Snake River Valley, ID renting slots on the front yard for "boondocking" at $300+.

I think any campsite within totality has been sold out for months.

Here, in central Oregon, this eclipse thing has gotten totally out of control! We have ranchers with pasture advertising on the internet for dry camp spots at $250 to $300 for a day or two. Some places are even higher. People are renting out their homes for $5000 for a couple of days. A group of Japanese tourists rented the entire Indian casino in Warm Springs for the event. There are concerns about gas shortages, food shortages, traffic congestion worse than the Grapevine or Bay area and inability of replacement items being able to be brought in. Much less the concerns about public safety. I don't know why this is such a much bigger deal than other eclipses but it has certainly gotten out of control, from a human perspective. Be glad when its done and life returns to normal!
