Traveling from California to San Marcos Texas

We're brand new at this, so I have a few questions. First though, this is not a vacation-type trip but a necessity. We're helping one of our kids move. So with that in mind, here are my questions:

1) With a 24 ft tt how long would it realistically take to get there, 4 days? We'll have our dogs with us if that makes a difference.

2) From the bay area in ca what would be a doable stop for the first night? We're not ready to boondock yet, so it would have to be a place like koa or something.

3) Is there a good book or something you could recommend for first timers that has all the rv secrets that we should know, but will never look it up because we don't know anything about it? I love to peruse the forums but I'm kinda short on time.

As you might have been able to tell, were squeezing things kinda tight due to my daughter's time constraints, so any advice you have would be HUGELY appreciated!

Thanks!

It depends on how comfortable you are driving for long distances and how many people are driving. I am comfortable driving my motor home about 500 miles a day but that's about 10 hours of driving. Given your new to driving travel trailer I would give yourself as much time as possible or you will be miserable . Good thing is once you get out of California the drive is relatively easy. Just have a few spots picked out to stop at 300,400,500 miles and don't kill yourself.
