Tucson RV Park recommendations

Just found out that the park we were going to stay at, won't accept Passport America this month.
Can anyone recommend a park that doesn't cost a lot?
Pool is a must.

The snowbirds are starting to head back north again, so you shouldn't have an issue finding a place.

I stayed at the Tucson/LazyDayz KOA four years ago...

Very nice place, although I doubt they are cheap.

Not sure what price range you are looking for or what part of Tucson you want to be in.

We like Lazy Days KOA. Some of the cheaper sites are pull through under the giant solar panels. We like the shade

Great restaurant and bar. Very nice pool. Close to Pima Air and Space Museum.

Have stayed at Green Valley RV park (south on I19), but it is tight and you feel like you are in a fish bowl

There are also some cheaper RV parks further south on I19, but I'm not sure about pools.

There are also cheaper RV parks east of Tucson in Benson and Tombstone. Tombstone RV park is our favorite and they just upgraded their pool.

KOA is way too expensive. We're hoping to get something for $40 or less.
Since we will be going north, when we leave Tucson, Tombstone is too far the wrong direction.

Lazy Days KOA is actually one of the cheapest in the area with a pool and a nice park. We were there this winter during snowbird season and paid $45 with AARP discount. Might call the desk and check, their rates are always better than the online.

Liz just reminded me that Picacho Peak RV Resort (west of Tucson) is $40 a night.

They told me $52 for 30 amp back in site.
I won't join AARP and I don't have a KOA card, so no discount.

Were you talking to the national number or the local number at the actual parks front desk? As far as I know, all the sites are 50/30. No 30 amp only sites. Some of the backins are actually more expensive than the covered pull throughs.

We just got back from Tucson two weeks ago. We had planned to spend a couple of nights at the Pima County Fairgrounds just south of I-10. No reservations, but FHU sites for ~$30/night and partial hookups for less. But we spent our extra days before our Tucson RV resort reservation in Las Cruces getting new trailer tires, so never camped at the fairgrounds.

However, we did go to an RV show there put on by La Mesa RV. The Gem & Mineral Show was just starting and so was the Tucson Rodeo, so the campsites were probably more than 3/4 full of motorhomes, big fifth wheels, and those "live-in" horse trailers. Of course, it didn't help that all the best RV sites near the restrooms, cafe, and trees were reserved for the RV show. But you should definitely try it now that all those shows and the rodeo are over.

But, sorry, no pool at the fairgrounds.

Have you considered Sentinel Peak? We like the location, right in Tucson, close to some of the sites/shops we visit.

We did Lazy Days for a few nights on travels and visited Saguaro National Park. I don't recall the cost, but it is a gated campground, verrry well maintained, a big place with many covered shaded camping sites with solar panels on top, all pretty impressive.

If you want to take a walk in the campground, you can take a long one, there were some beautiful rigs to look at!

If you want to be right in Tucson, a good place is
Sentinel RV Park
450 N Grande Avenue, Tucson, Arizona, 85745. Exit 259 on I-10
Home - Sentinel Peak RV

Tucson is small, so it is easy to get out into the surrounding area. But Sentinel is nice is you want to enjoy things at the U of Arizona (very good museum and the Mirror Lab that produces the world's largest telescope mirrors - 8 metres across).

Gated, paved and full service.

If you haven't already made your reservations suggest you check out Rincon Country East RV Resort. This park was awarded 2018 Large park of the year. This is our first year here and we love it. Heated pool to.Everyone very friendly.

Check out AZ State Parks. We are going to Roper Lake State Park in Safford AZ. Good pricing at all State Parks and National Parks if you can get in.

Try Desert Trails on the Ajo Hiway. Spent a couple of winters there and they should be winding down by now.

We spend 4/6 weeks at Desert Trails every year. We have our reservations for next year. I know that there is a heated pool. We have never used it. The park has a large variety of activities and is close to one of our favorite pastimes.
