US-89Alt and the Grand Canyon

We're taking a trip out west and will be driving from Flagstaff, AZ to St. George, UT. It appears the best route is US-89A around the Grand Canyon. Reviewing the information in Mountain Directory, it notes that northbound from Jacob Lake there is a series of rolling hills then 6 miles of a 6% grade. Heading to Jacob Lake is nearly 10 miles of a 5-6% ascent with switchbacks. We're driving a 30 foot motorhome, towing our Jeep Wrangler. Has anyone taken this route? Is this a 4-lane highway or does it have a truck lane for the ascent? Taking US-89 north to Page may be an alternative but appears to have a lengthy ascent just past its junction with 89A. Any feedback will be much appreciated.
Thanks!

i have not been on 89a so i can't compare the two routes. but we have taken 89 through page many times. yes there is a grade after the junction but i don't remember it being anything difficult. we tow a large and heavy 5th wheel. after that is is pretty open without grades. there are rv's of all shapes and sizes on 89 going through page.

which ever route you take enjoy yourself!

Drove this road last year on our trip to the North Rim and then to to Mount Nebo near Nephi UT The road is mostly 2 lane with occasional passing lanes. We were pulling our 36ft 5th wheel that weighed close to 11400 pounds. We pull with a ram 2500 big horn. Personally we had no issues with.
