US 95 Idaho

Working on our West Coast trip which will take us to/through Boise Idaho. I am wondering how good of a highway is US 95 between Boise and the junction with I 80 and are there any major passes or climbs I should be concerned with.

Eventually working our way to Napa, CA.

Thanks in advance!

It's a good road in the middle of nowhere. No major mountain passes.

We always drive 95. Good road, no issues. Just make sure you are fueled upas there is it much out there but scenery.

It's not bad, but there are a couple climbs. As mentioned previously there's not much of anything out there, so keep an eye on your fuel.

Fuel

We drove from Ontario, Oregon to Winnemucca, NV last October. Having run that stretch of road several times before you can bet you won't be without a fuel station for more than 75 miles for the longest stretch.

I have ridden that highway on my Goldwing and never worried about fuel either. Just check how far it is between towns and you'll be fine.

People saying there is nothing out west here, just don't appreciate the beauty of this great country! Some of us like not being cramped up in a heavily populated area.

I see the max grade is 7% from jsalbre's chart. Piece of cake. Really looking forward to seeing that beautiful part of the country!

A might fine road. Keep your fuel tank full, carry water, carry some food, nothing out there. That is why I like it.

Old boating days axiom I still practice with the RV, a half tank is an empty tank, therefore I'm always refueling at a half tank, which gets me about 300 or better.

You will be golden then, it's only 257 miles from Boise to Winnemucca.

I think the only 7% grade is when you drop into the Owyhee River valley at Rome Staton. It is short but steep, not really a problem if you are prepared for it. There is signage telling you you are approaching it.

“Nothing out there” is a positive thing in my book!
