Visiting Utah from Seattle

This will be our first time out in our Rpod 182G. We are heading to Utah, kids live south of Salt Lake city so hoping to stop there and then head south for a few weeks. Any tips on where to stay, campsites seem booked already!

We love the state park on Utah Lake at Provo. There is a KOA there as well. But the state park is much nicer, has better views, and absolutely perfectly level pads. As I recall, they offer water and electric. I can't remember whether sewer is available.

Yes, both of these places are nice. There is a TA and Denny's right near the KOA also. The State Park has some nice sites along the lake. Hint: if the wind is up and the waves are breaking it gets a little noisey at night.

Last resort

We stayed at Mt. Carmel Junction Motel and campground in 2018. It's in a great location north of Kanab, UT so close to Zion, N Rim Grand Canyon, Bryce and other beautiful places. BUT, it's a small campground (10-12 sites) with sites close together. Our mini lite really seemed mini compared to the big rigs there. It's right on the highway, but the noise didn't bother us. Bathrooms are clean, owners are nice (let us use the motel laundry free). We would stay there again, but a state park would be nicer if you can find a place. Mt. Carmel might be lesser known and available. It's also part of a working ranch - pretty interesting.

We were hoping to swing through South Utah after a stay with new great grand baby last October at Lake Havasu City. Not a site to be found. Apparently, folks bailing CA fire and smoke. Botton line, make a reservation as far in advance as you can. Enjoy!

Not sure how you're heading south, the Wild Horse casino near Pendleton is good. Both parks in Baker City are good. The Country Corner is 13 miles into ID at Sand Hollow has been good in the past. Anderson Camp RV just past Twin Falls has been a good stop over for us as has the Earp and James park in Snowville, UT. In Moab we've had good luck at the Spanish Trail RV park several times. During normal times we have been able to call a day ahead and get in; no idea how they are during these times. Throw in a flat of bottled water and sandwich fixings and go for it. Have fun, stay safe.

We did similar trip last year in our 179 Pod, went on to Moab and stayed at Moab Valley RV Resort & Campground - 1773 N Highway 191, real nice place to use as base camp for visiting Arches and Canyon Lands NP. On way back swung over to Bear Lake on ID border and stayed at Bear Lake Resort in Garden, UT. Beautiful lake/country and easy drive back up north to I-84 and route home.

If you can swing by Bear Lake it’s definitely worth the stop. Campgrounds in Garden City including KOA

Remember it is still winter here

Not sure you said when you are travelling but it can freeze until the end of March so plan accordingly.

You can get a free book from the Utah Tourism Council or download it here: https://www.visitutah.com/plan-your-...h-travel-guide

It can freeze well into May, even June at higher elevations.
Utah is a great state to visit. After the NPs, there are great National Forests and wonderful slot canyons and Nat Monuments and Nat Rec Areas. It is easy to find places to camp in National Forests and boondocking in the desert if very rewarding. Even to spend a day or two out there is totally different than some KOA.
