West Yellowstone to East Glacier

Hello. I am in West Yellowstone and will be heading to East Glacier tomorrow. I am planning on going 287 to the 359 after Harrison and then up the 69 to Boulder and onto the 15. Would it be safer and a better trip to just stay on the 287 to the 15? That is a longer route. Any experience in this area would be appreciated. Thank you in advance. I drive a 3500 Ram and am pulling a 28’ EVO.

When we were there, the I-15 had some construction north of Helena. Nothing too crazy, but it was one lane in each direction, with some overnight closures.

Last summer when we were there the construction on 89 between browning and St Mary was long and major, we drove through mud for a few miles. Check the road conditions and if the construction is still ongoing take 464 north out of Browning, it will bring you back onto 89 near Babb, just a few miles north of St Mary and you miss the construction and have a straighter drive too.
