Where can you take a 30 foot trailer?

I am preparing to purchase a travel trailer in the 30 foot range. I have had 24 footers for many years and find them handy for USFS campgrounds and National Parks.

How hard is it to find spaces large enough for a 30 foot trailer in a National Park? RV parks should be no problem. What is your experience with a 30 foot trailer? Can you back one into a smaller space and disconnect your truck?

35' Trailer - FL to ND, MT, WY, SD, AR And Return

I pulled a 35' trailer from Florida to Teddy Roosevelt, Glacier,Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Custer State Park, Wind Cave NP, and back east to FL. Not a problem with the length of the trailer in the campgrounds. I used the RV Life app which allows you to filter campgrounds based on trailer length, hookups and other criteria. You will be fine with a bit of planning. My most difficult area was gas stations because I have a gas powered crew cab truck and when connected to the trailer I am a little over 60' in length. Gas stations are designed for auto mobiles and regular pickups. Just shoot for the outer most island of pumps and be prepared to wait for gaining access as well as the people who will pull in front of you to gas up, not realizing the off-tracking on your rig is like 8 feet. Meaning the trailer axle will swing an arc with a radius of 8 feet less than your truck, so you have to do some creative manuevering when you pull away from the pumps that your trailer doesn't drag the pump with its rear bumper.

I've had a 30ft trailer for a few years now and have camped in several National Parks and USFS campgrounds. While it can be a bit more challenging to find suitable spots, it's definitely doable with some planning. I use apps like RV Life and Campendium to filter campgrounds by trailer length and amenities. As for backing into smaller spaces, it does take some practice, but it's manageable. I've learned to take my time, use my spotter, and disconnect my truck when needed. You'll get the hang of it!
