We were at yellow stone early June and FBCG did not look that bad. There is so much to see and do you will not spend much time there anyways.

Interested in the replies we are scheduling a trip to Yellowstone. I looked at a campground outside the west entrance that was well rated I think. Good Luck!

I use www.campgroundreviews.com for first hand park reviews. And I review every park that I stay in as well. That web site has plenty of comments on Fishing Bridge. My most recent stay at Yellowstone was at Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park in West Yellowstone. We were close to the action with all the amenities of a small town.

Yellowstone RV and Marina would be my recommendation. It's about 15 minutes outside of the town and on the banks of Hebgen Lake. Excellent level, full hook up sites. Clean washrooms and showers. Very courteous staff. We stayed on a lakeside site last year and we really couldn't have been any closer to the water.

Stayed there 3 times since 2006, 11 nights. . Up to 32' length fiver. Very primitive lanes and pads and tight turns. Tight spots to back in. Lots of trees. Good water, power and sewer dumps at sights. Fuel, groceries, souvenirs etc next door. Wild life in immediate area.

Grizzly...

Another vote for Grizzly RV Park in West Yellowstone. Have stayed there twice, for about a week each time, with extended family (4 trailers and 20+ people all with the same last name -- fun times!!)

Meg -- don't know if you can change your reservation at this point. Good luck!

completely agree. In door swimming pool for the kids, fire pit for marsh mellows, friendly staff, cemented patio areas.

Saw a double rainbow in the summer of 2013, first and only time right after a rain storm.

We stayed at Fishing bridge many years ago.
The sights are tight no question.
No camp fires as I recall but we didn't care!!

IF you have never been to Yellowstone you need to consider location....
Yellowstone is a very big park!! It can take a couple hours to get from
where you are staying to where you want to be in the park.
That's 2 hours each way! That's a lot of your day.
If there are buffalo near a main road it quickly becomes a parking lot!
If you are heading to a far off corner of the park and the cars in
front of you want pictures of big animals you are stuck!
Fishing bridge is more or less central and as others have mentioned
it has a lot going on around it.
We divided the park into 4 "corners" and went in a different direction
every day. We're hikers and our kids are grown so we didn't have them
to contend with. If you've got kids that may change how you operate
in the park.
Fishing bridge will work! It's not gonna be the best RV campground you
ever saw but it could very well be in the middle of the best National Park
you ever visited!

Enjoy your trip!!
Happy Trails!

I`m planning a 2 week Yellowstone trip and FB is the campground I`m choosing. I`m basing this off of the reviews, satellite views and location. I really don`t want to drive all the way into Yellowstone everyday from West Yellowstone. For me I`m going to Yellowstone to visit the area so I`m staying in the park. and with all the site seeing no one will be in the campground anyway! I don`t know of anyone that goes to Yellowstone or the surrounding area and sits in the campground for the entire trip?

Dan nailed it in his answer. We dry camp & found a site in the NE part of Yellowstone, it was 1st come 1st serve at that time (only 2 sties took reservations). It was a wonderful site & hosts as well. This was several years ago, we had driven around the whole park looking for a place & they were all marked full. The host told use they stay that way,you just have to pull in each one & look. We were fortunate to find a spot.

At one of the camp sites a buffalo came to visit our trailer as he passed through. I didn't have time to get inside - I didn't bother him & he didn't bother me expect for the excitement. They are BIG.

Hopefully Meg will post the results after they return.

We stayed at West Yellowstone KOA for one night on the way in this summer. Very nice. Pool was fun. All hookups etc. But like all other KOAs with lots of people line up side by side... We prefer to be in the more serene campgrounds for a bit more privacy.

Then spent five nights at West Thumb campground (Grant Village). We had an unimproved site and dry camped without trouble. They have showers near the store and a wash room for dishes. No problem with tanks filling up with five of us in the trailer.

Drove past Fishing Bridge a lot. It looked nice - right near the water and very much in the center of the park. Easy access to the canyon, Hayden Valley wildlife, and the LAKE! And they do allow fires for sure. Smoke seemed to settle in that area.

On the way out we went past Hebgen Lake and that was really cool too. But there was a half-hour line to get into the park each morning. Glad we avoided that.

Enjoy your trip.

Alot of the poor reviews attributed to fishing bridge are in fact not posted by campers who camped at fishing bridge. I think people get confused and post without regard to where they actually camped. JMO.

We recently stayed at Livingston/Paradise Valley KOA and dropped down into Yellowstone for a couple of day trips.
Very nice campground - highly recommended.

Also on Yellowstone - Does anyone have advice on how/where to park 28' Motor Home when hiking trails in Yellowstone NP - eg to Boiling River near Meteor Hot Springs - looking on Google street view we can see the the designated parking lots all have signs saying no RVs and Coaches - if the MH is your only transport what does one do??????

KyDan has the best info for experiencing Yellowstone. You do not need all of the amenities in a Yellowstone RV park. Its all about the park itself. Be centrally located and experience all you can in the time available.

That is a disadvantage of a MH considered when you buy one. You need a toad, scooters, or a rental car. Better yet, camp with friends that have a TT or 5er who can take you along.

Gotta toss in one foto-- this is typical Yellowstone!
Note we are on a motorcycle and no one is going anywhere until
the buffalo decide to move!
Why did the buffalo cross the road??
Because they CAN!!!

If your asking where to park during the Summer peak, it will surely be difficult. Can you go later?
