yup. seen something similar. On a hiking path in Yellowstone a bison was on the path and someone tried to see how close he could get to take a picture. Luckily the bison just walked off. Also in Estes Park when the Elk are on the golf course, someone stood in front of a the bull elk to get a picture. again luckily the bull walked off. Unfortunately it was into the middle of the main intersection in town. The police took a while to convince the bull to move on.

Find a bear in Yosemite. It will have 3-5 foreign tourists trying to get up close for a selfie.

Oh, don't just blame it on foreigners! I've seen plenty of American tourists do asinine things around wild animals.

Of course then they'd have to shoot the "dangerous wild animal"

85% of the people visiting the valley in the summer are foreign tourists.

I disagree, that Bison could end this idiots stupid problem for good. I hate to say this, but this person would be a prime candidate for herd thinning. While it seems ruthless, a few more animal attacks and i bet more people would respect the animals.

Last month near Mammoth Springs, There were all kinds of people within 5 feet of some Bison. one person was standing on a large rock hoping to get on the back of one for a "photo op"
lucklily, the ranger got there before he had the opportunity.

From nps.gov:

“Based on data collected in the study, 83 percent of Yellowstone’s visitors come from the United States and 17 percent come from abroad, including visitors from Europe (49 percent of international), China (34 percent of international), and Canada (10 percent of international).”

I take it you've never been in the summertime?

Been there in the summer many times. One thing I will say about foreigners, we meet a lot of them when we hike in Yellowstone, but very few Americans.

It always looks to me that like the majority of the people who go to Yellowstone in the summer rarely stray out of eyesight of their cars. Europeans tend to hike their entire lives. We've met many European seniors on hikes there.

So as it turns out he was even more stupid than originally thought. Always glad to hear when an idiot gets caught.

You see stupid people every time you visit YNP. People seem to think it is one big petting zoo. Understand this guy led a lawless spree all the way to Glaciervwhere he was arrested and takes back tovWestcYelliwstone. His gene pool could use thinning out.

I've posted this photo previously on the forum but I thought I would post it again. Sometimes stupid people are lucky enough to get away with their dumb actions. I took this picture near the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. I fully expected to get some great action shots of people running for their lives. Just after taking the picture the man made the woman move away from the elk.
