2008 georgetown motorhome with black disc plate material in transmission

I have a 2008 Georgetown Forest River 340 SE motorhome. When checking the trans dipstick while hot I find black disc plate material on the transmission dipstick. I changed the fluid at 30,000 miles and the RV has 7,000 since trans oil change by a Ford dealer. The trans oil looks red and not dark brown. Anyone else notice this issue? 4 speed overdrive don’t have trans number but it doesn’t slip.

Thanks

Can you add a picture? I can't figure out what "black disc plate" means.

I’ll try to add tomorrow but small hard black plastic particles.

Hmm. That's odd. Not sure if that year F53 got the 5 speed or if it still had the 4 speed. Either way I think you may want to drop the trans. If it's sticking to the dipstick it sounds like plastic from something. Maybe the filter housing is cracked or the filter itself is coming apart. Dropping the pan should answer your question.

YES the black (plastic) particles are form the filter housing.. Drop the pan and see what happened to the filter unit... Will most likely need to put in a new filter and clean the pan...

Any updates on the root cause?

I ask because my 2006 Sunseeker, V10, 5 speed torqflight with tow/haul, will show some specks of dark material on the dipstick but it is coming from the dipstick tunnel, not a transmission issue.

I had the tunnel cleaned once by the dealer, mine can be removed, I dont know how this was performed.

I've got about 53,000 miles and have had the fluid changed twice, at 25,000 and 52,000 miles by my dealer and no issues reported and it shifts just fine. Fluid is red like new.

No. The trans fluid is red and that’s what I suspected tube runs near exhaust manifold. I won’t drop the trans. I had had it changed at Ford 6k ago and it’s not slipping.
