2012 Georgetown 60,300 mile Ford Inspection

As some of you may know I take good care of my 2012 Georgetown 378TS.
90% of my driving is on interstate highways at 60-65mph if not higher.
I change my oil and filter between 4,000 and 5,000 miles.
I try and do most of my maintenance myself like oil and filter changes, Air Filter and other fluid levels.
My Georgetown now has 60,300 miles I wanted to spend a few $$$ at my local trusted Ford Commercial Vehicle shop who work on all the HD commercial truck fleets in the area.

I asked them to give my F53 a once over using computer diagnostics and visual inspection and this is what the result is.

Mechanic was very pleased what he found.
He said to continue regular oil and filter changes and should not have any issues for a along time.

Inspection and Repairs.

1. Replaced original Ford battery was 7 years old with a new one.

2. Front Brakes 6mm and rears 7mm. (New pads are 12mm)
He said come back in 10,000 miles and we may be ready for a new set of brakes pad, turn rotors and flush the brake fluid.
Until then everything looks great!

3. Original Serpentine belt is still great as well as the tensioner arm

4. Checked fluid in parking brake system. (Rear of Transmission)

5. Greased all zerk fitting in frontend

6. Computer showed no Codes on any system, Engine, plugs, coils, spark plugs, ABS system, Oxygen Sensors (3) great, Air Flow sensor OK

7. Coolant is good for at least 50,000 more miles

8. Transmission fluid good for another 50,000 miles.

So I have to start saving of for the brake job in a few years.
Usually costs $1,200 to $1,500.

This inspection cost me a few bucks in labor but what I wanted was some professional to assure me that my MH was still a good running shape.
I now feel very happy that I can honestly say my Ford F-53 chassis is solid and ready to roll for a few years to come.
I hope this helps others feel better about the Ford V-10 and Chassis.

Happy Camping and

Thanks Iggy....very useful and helpful. Like yourself I’m diligent about regular oil/filter changes, and keeping an eye on everything I can inspect along with treating the entire Ford part of our rig with RESPECT (thanks Aretha)

With the same attitude you mention, I’ll bet we can put the MH in our will. I know there’s some out there that believe a diesel will go on much longer than a gas unit....but I’m betting the gap is getting smaller every year and the cost savings are significant than upgrading.

Now if I win the lottery.....this discussion never took place

Speaking of maintenance on our Georgetowns... Who do you contact about stuff like windsh, ield wiper arms (I need a head cover) these aren't Ford... Or would a Ford dealer have TruVision wiper parts... TIA

Grease the Zerks?

Don't you grease the fittings when you change oil and filters? I do that on all of our vehicles, every six months.

When was younger (1960s) cars had a 1000 mile chassis lube interval. I know it's been extended, but I figure that regular greasing will extend the life of ball joints, tie rod ends, pitman and idler arms to the life of the vehicle.

Yes Larry

When and if I do the oil and filter change I do grease the frontend but it seems I'm doing it less as I age and allowing others to do it for me. LOL.

Just wondering what they thought of the 5 star tuner Would imagine changed settings may have shown up when they ran diagnostics

Hello Iggy, we just moved here to the PHX area and don't have a lot of good references yet for different service providers. I'm not sure what part of PHX you are in but we are in Surprise and looking for a good recommendation close by for future service needs on our 2018 Georgetown XL 369.

I'm in Surprise also.
You have Orangewood RV (Bell Road & 114th Ave here in Surprise but not sure if they care to cover warranty Service. You may need to contact them and see.

You also have Sun City RV on Grand Ave and 90th Ave

You can always contact me if you have any questions about your Georgetown.

I will send you a Private Msg.

Talking Time Check

Iggy, 1:08 AM, are you kidding me. I'm on my second dream by then. I'll see your 60,000 and raise you 10,000 more. If all goes accordingly.

I have to hit the road as I'm getting bore here at home in 110 degree days.
Cool means when low of the day is below 70 degrees.
That is 99% of the country.

I have not forgotten you all but it just seems that I still will have to wait until September before any long trip.

May just decide to head north to Flagstaff AZ to chill for a week..

Do you spend any time at the Apache Indian Casino and RV Park I Casa Verde? We thought it looked pretty nice as we drove by and being new around here we are just discovering great places to camp. We have always found that n CA and Oregon anyway that the Indian Casino RV parks are some of the nicest around. We have a week booked in the Grand Canyon RV park in August so may just add some days and try out the Casino RV park on the way up or back.
