2013-2014 Microwave/Convection Oven Recall

I am posting this here for my friends that own 2013 and 2014 Georgetowns.

thank you for posting this - I just looked at mine and sure enough I am affected but have not gotten the letter - that will be a call tomorrow to Customer service.

It happened to me. At 0300 I heard a ding and smelled melting plastic. It melted the plastic bread wrappers in the micro. It happened the next day and saw it set itself to 3 min and turned on the micro.
I unplugged it and returned to dealer, waited for 6 weeks for a new one. That was 6 months ago. Was no recall at that time.

The notice only gives years, not serial numbers???

DennyH: It does give the Build Dates of the RV and Model numbers of Micro.

March 11, 2013, through April 26, 2013 and equipped with certain Frigidaire Convection Microwave models CFMV152CLB and CFMV154CLS

This problem is not only for Forest River, my brother has a Newmar, he was notified months ago, and yes his was recalled

Thanks for the heads up Iggy. We have not received a letter which is concerning since our model number is listed in the recall. Calling them today.

Seems the recall will replace the control panel and not the whole unit.

Called the number on the attachment. Got a voice mail and had to leave pertinent information for a return call. They called back and said they were Coachman. Said we should call Kevin at Forest River. Will call tomorrow.

Finally talked to Kevin Stratton at Georgetown today. I read him the pertinent information in the recall notice that Iggy posted. He says it has not filtered down to him yet. He asked if we stored anything in the microwave, which I answered no. He asked if I was having any problems with the unit, again I answered no. Just as a precaution he suggested that we unplug the microwave when we are not in the coach, which we did. He said the govt gives them a time frame to notify and we would have to wait. He took all the info and put it into our record so they are aware my microwave is in the recall.

Thanks Iggy! A friend sent me the recall notice. I still haven't received anything from FR. We had ours turn on at 3 am for 3 minutes also. I just happened to be awake at the time and heard it. Fortunately, we don't store anything in the MW. Just the other day, we tried to use it in the morning and none of the buttons would work. Then every button pushed would start it for 3 minutes. After unplugging it, it reset and has been working ok. I'll be contacting Kevin Stratin soon.
