2013 351 ds generator exhaust

Locked in for a long weekend boondocking trip at Orchard Park this December. Wondering what people do for generator exhaust in this model. Is it even an issue? If so, is the gen-turi system worth it? People male their own?

Yes. Must have for racers at NHRA events. I have one and it works.

Any specific model number? My generator is right under and in the middle of my main slide out.

That I would not know. I would guess their site would have something. There are a lot of RVs at the events and need to use them. Gets the exhaust up high and away from lingering on the ground plus not collecting under your RV. I have one, I put the hooks on my side wall just before the slide. I have a Class C.

100% YES - Need Genturi. It is required for tailgating, but common sense is even more important. I had to build extension pipes because the idiots "designers" at GT have the exhaust in the middle of the slide out!!

We spend several weekends at drag racing events and a few three and four day events with our generator running the whole time. I have never had an issue.
I have the 2014 351 so I'm assuming the generator is in the same location.
I do have a carbon monoxide detector on the wall between the couch and the dinette because the generator is right below the couch when guests are using it as a bed.
Now, I am in no way implying that some sort of gen turi exhaust is not a good idea, simply that I have the same motor home as you and have never had a problem.
BTW, my BIL is parked on one side of me and my nephew on the other and both have their generators running as well as another hundred or so MH's. Cant remember ever seeing anyone using one.

Thanks cjd10. I appreciate both sides of the argument. This is exactly the kind of thread I was hoping for. An experienced discussion from boondockers.

As a follow up, for those using the exhaust pipe, does it really lessen the generator noise? I don't do or buy things for the rv unless I can get the most bang for my buck.

Exhaust stacks like the gen turi are required for RVs at dog events, usually in county fairgrounds and some rv sites may not have electric service pedestals.

All I k,ow is the 4 tracks we race at they were required. Now if you are in the spectator area, I can't answer for there. Indy, Englishtown, Atco, and Maple Grove, if you were racing and had an on-board genny, you had to use. Any other tracks, I can't say.

To add, I was just checking in on Indy and the first picture was a Class A with the stack attached.

I will clarify that the Drag Racing events we are at are not what you would call top NHRA events like you see on television. We are in the pits but may not stacked quite as close as you might be at a Nascar Race in spectator side.

To clarify for everyone, we will be going to Buffalo football stadium for the weekend of the 3rd of December. No hook ups. It is a parking lot at the stadium.

You might want to check with the stadium itself. Reading thru some tailgating rules for stadiums, mostly college, some required stacks for generators and some didn't say. Metlife stadium did not require one but did have specific rules regarding generator exhaust. Might be better to be safe than sorry if you are not sure.
