2013 Georgetown Ceiling Light Replacement
I want to change out the 5X (VERY bright) ceiling puck lights in my 2013 Georgetown 378XL for dimmable versions, I got confirmation from the factory that the OE ones are not dimmable.
Fitting a dimming RecPro switch will be easy, but my question is which dimmable puck lights are a direct replacement for the OE ones? Anyone made this conversion?
Thanks in advance.

These just arrived today from Amazon. They dim and have a blue light setting.

Thanks Tlmgcamp.
Do you know if they mount the same way as the OE ones? I don't see any mounting details on the attached picture, and I also haven't tried to remove one of the originals yet either.

The lens twists off the base which is held to the surface with 3 screws. I have to believe that the originals are similar.

Moved thread from the Tech and Repair section to the Georgetown sub-forum for better help from other Georgetown owners and possible factory support.

He moved it because the Original Post has Georgetown in the title and was initiated by a Georgetown owner.

Interesting. We have a 2013 378 xl and our lights are dimmable. I purchased a 4 wire dimmer switch that looks like a regular rv light switch. Works just fine.
I bought the dimmer that had 4 wires coming out of it. (Not the three wire) I don't know if that makes any difference.

I am looking at using a switch from RecPro that has 3 wires, 12V in, 12V out and ground. Anyone know if I hook it up to try could it damage the lights or will it just work as an on/off switch like the current rocker fitted?

Good question. I don't know, though I bought the 4 wire dimmer back in 2016, and at that time, I purchased the 4 wire because of the research it did directed me to buy the 4 wire. Maybe it isolates the circuit for better performance. My lights only go to about 10% brightness. I do not see the one I bought anymore. They do have a 4 wire but only the round barrel type.
I will be by my coach this evening and will pull the dimmer and take a picture of the model number if possible.

Dimmer light switch
Okay, this will tell my age. I removed the switch and it only had three wires.
I also included a pic of the light at the lowest setting. It's about 10% bright. Not much to show though.

Thanks Wrapperman, the switch looks like the RecPro one I am going to get which is also 3 wire, but the puck lights look different, mine have frosted lenses so I think I will have to replace those as well as they are the factory originals that I am told can’t be dimmed.

I removed the frosted lens to show the brightness of the leds. The lens just twist off by ⅛ quarter counterclockwise turn of the lens. I would try the dimmer switch before buying new led lights. That's just me. If I get a chance I will try to remove the light itself and if there is a number on it I will reply to you.
I did not ask forestriver if the lights were dimmable, I just did it.

That makes sense now I look at the picture closely. I am going to do as you suggest then and install the dimmer switch and see how it goes!
Thanks again.

Got the switch Friday, fitted it Sunday, works like a charm! Great upgrade for only $35.
I wonder if the factory parts guy was thinking about an old school resistance type dimmer when he said lights wouldn’t dim. The RecPro unit is a PWM type which is typical for LED’s I believe whether 12V DC or 120V AC.

Good news.
I do remember the older led's were not dimmable. Yours and mine may have been made to be dimmable, as around that year more led's were dimmable.
I was concerned about my lights at first. After researching it, I found the older dimmers were SCR type(Silicone Controlled Rectifiers), the new ones are PWM type. (Pulse wave modulation).
Interesting on the two different types. Leds have come a long way.
I have installed leds in many places.
Congratulations on you new lighting.
