270S Dinette Comfort

I notice on the forum there a few of us with 270s units. We love ours with the exception of the U shaped dinette. We find it very uncomfortable when sitting form periods of time or watching TV.

Are others finding this? Any solutions or mods. I tried raising the front of the cushions by about 3/4” which help some when sitting. I made a slightly smaller table, but that was a waste of time.

I dont have that unit but ive seen a lot of people remove the dinette for a regular table and chairs or even couch with tv trays .

Trying to avoid that drastic of an alteration. Plus the angles are not very good for a regular dinette. Although you could do couch and TV trays. But how do you play games when it raining?

Layout compromises, what a nuisance.

U dinette looks great but it is akward & uncomfortable, I would like to rip it out and replace with a couple of recliners. But the structural integrity of the entire dinette area depends on the U-dinette seat bottoms/storage areas.

I ordered my 270, but unfortunately they didn't attach the dual recliner/sofa properly (like everything else) so I replaced the 2inch "L"s with 3inch and all is fine now. MY PDI Salesman had the audacity to tell me that FR never attaches couches to the floor in RVs.

But the idiots never installed the table that goes with it and it was not included at delivery time (PDI) - it took 6 weeks to get is shipped to me. It is a better solution (IMHO) in all regards than the J dinette - that is why I ordered it at an overpriced $1K upgrade charge. The slide is different so not sure if it is a possible upgrade to the standard J slide without much modifications. It eliminates some storage above and below. I also installed a second set of table bases so that I don't have to store the table during travels and have it available 24/7 while underway. FR only provides 1 set. Just like they only sent 1 vs 2 cushions.

Because it was uncomfortable and we seldom eat inside while camping, my wife requested that I replace the dinette with a small couch. It was a fair amount of work but not overly technical.

I disassembled the dinette and repurposed the laminate to build a cover for the wires along the back and right side of the slide. She found a Lazyboy loveseat which fits in nicely. I measured several times to get the reclining spot identified and then secured the loveseat to the floor with lag bolts. It's now very comfortable!

The angle of the slide floor is a little odd, but need to do more research to see if the slide floor can be cut back to make it straighter.

Very nice. Thanks for the photos, let’s me know what I am getting into. Might see if I can fit a typical table and chairs into that space. Give up some storage, but perhaps do something at the wall.
