30 amp service
Just installed a 30 amp plug at home so I could plug my Georgetown in to turn on the fridge and an air conditioner. I know I shouldn’t be able to run both ac’s, but I can only get the back one to come on. I’d prefer the front ac, but nothing happens. Is this the norm, or am I missing something?
Let me know. Thanks Jim 2022 Georgetown GT5 31

I don't have an answer - thought I did, but misread the original post.

Your camper is 50A, 240V. There are 2 separate circuits that each get half of the 204V or 120V, 50A each. When you plug in to 120V at home, only one of your circuits receive power. Since each of your AC units draws power from a different circuit, only one of your AC units will work.

How are you connecting your shore power cord to the 30a outlet? Are you using an adapter? Most adapters (commonly called dog bone adapters) tie BOTH legs of a 50a cord to the SINGLE leg of a 30a outlet.
Also... are you 100% certain the outlet installed is 30a at 120v?
Do you have a multimeter and know how to use it? Five minutes checking circuitry will answer all your questions.

What was preventing you from installing a 50 amp plug in? Best thing I did.

Appears you're only getting one leg of the power.
Please post a photo of the outlet you just installed. Are you using a 30a to 50a adapter or pigtail? What power cord are you using between the outlet and camper?

Something is off. I can run either front or rear air conditioner when using a 30 to 50 amp adaptor.

Thanks. Found the forward ac had tripped the breaker. User error!

Just wanted to thank everyone for their input. Problem was a breaker. Solved! We live in an HOA and can only have the rig here for a day or 2. To run a 50 amp cord for the 70+ feet was more than I wanted to spend so I used a 30 amp cord, outlet and dog bone.

Thank you for coming back and letting us know.
70+ feet of 30a cord (and the connections) will have plenty of current loss. Be mindful of what you power up.

To those that aren’t sure. When using a 30-50 amp dog bone, the dog bone ties both of the RV legs to the one leg of the 30a. This will power everything in the RV (minus one AC).

... and mine will power A/C #2 if I turn A/C #1 off. Both legs are hot at the same time.
