364 rear slide fix and new gear box

First I must say if you rear bed jumps ans catches going out and in do not ignore like we did.. I can now say what will happen is the gear box will pop and then ratchet and she is toast.. At least ours only went out 4" and we got it to come back in.. So the first thing I am doing is fixing the slide so it is smooth like it should of left the factory.. As you follow the pictures the first batch is tearing the bed down to find the problem.. I show taking the shocks and hatch off and then removing the floor section.. Then if you look at the two pieces of 2x6 they are not flush with the bottom of the slide by about 3/8's of an inch so I have lowered then onto the shim that is cut perfect to match gap and turned the pieces around so I can locate new holes.. The power cable was good so I moved it an inch to add 2x6 stiffeners and I am going to add a 3/4 inch floor instead of 1/2 company used for more stiffness.. Will add more after a trip to store

Here is what is left of the gearbox housing.. Note the center hole should be round but is hogged out in both directions due to the bad slide design causing the bed to catch going in and out.. This has been going on from day one and was looked at by two different shops

Well the slide works again.. The bed is not totally smooth in and out but way better.. Some of the cables are not totally tight but from what I understand they won't all be.. I do not want to ever do this again.. Way to much work for an old man

That bed slide is why they only made out model 2 years. They had to completely re-engineer the bed slide. I ended up completely removing the bed frame rebuild from scratch a regular queen size frame (no rv sixes) so wife can replace bedding anytime with regular queen sized set. Added little side tables from Ikea so we have somewhere for cupholder, etc. Got rid of the slide bump and now feels more "normal" to us. Our is a 2015, have already replaced not only bed slide gearbox and dinette but now the bunk slide gearbox stripped out. It is parked at home with the slide in so I think we're good to push it out once while wife hits the button but not looking forward to that job...

This news is breaking my heart.. I must say I am thankful that my arms are long cause replacing the gear box when the slide was all the way in really stretched me to the limit.. We love the coach but maybe its time for a trade.. Our steps just fell almost out of the coach so its one disaster after another at 27000 miles

Yeah, the steps falling apart was one of the things fixed by the warranty. Good news had to have it welded since but the second set is hanging in...
