364TS water heater question

2nd season on 364 and for the first time I ran out of hot water. We have always alternated showers from front to back and this time it ran out just using mid shower.

I guess I always assumed the two hot water heaters were localized to each bathroom....is that correct or are they one big system? Not sure how they would be separated but I never gave it much thought until now.

So if I run hot water through kitchen sink I could drain hot water from both heaters? Just want to make sure I have a good understanding, or if one water heater dies...

Thanks

There are separate water heaters. Each one is a 6 gallon tank. They don't run out usually because you're not hearing much water so it heats quicker than your 50 gallon home ones

Right...I know there are physically 2 water heaters and where they are located....just wasn't sure if they are in series for the whole coach or in any way isolated to each bathroom. Sorry if I'm not very clear.

Can not answer your question, but easy to test. Close intake cold water to one heater and then try all your hot water faucets, your will know then. Repeat with other water heater....

I think they are all hooked up together. I say this because if you only turn on one pump while boondocking you get water pressure everywhere. So I think the hot water is cycling through both tanks thereby allowing for a longer hot shower than what one tank would provide assuming the hot water has been sitting idle and both tanks are heated. The issue we have is that the cold water in the back bathroom sink tends to run much hotter than ambient temp for cold water in the front bath or kitchen. I assume this is caused from poor engineering and the cold water line in the back picking up heat transfer from the hot water line. I don't know if there is a way to insulate the cold water line from the hot. Would be interested to hear if anyone else has noticed this issue.

I know nothing about this particular set-up or how they are plumbed but I respectfully disagree with the theory of "because if you only turn on one pump while boondocking you get water pressure everywhere." resulting in they must be hooked together.

Yes, the cold supplies are hooked together (thus only needing one pump or one city water supply) BUT... if the hot outlet plumbing of one tank only goes to the rear sink and shower, and the hot outlet plumbing of the other tank only goes to the front sink(s) shower, there isn't any way for the two hots to mix and therefore in essence, create one 'large' tank.

Now if somewhere along the line, the hots are plumbed TOGETHER then that's a totally different scenario.

Both tanks are in parallel to the hot water system. You can turn one hot water heater on and get hot water everywhere in the coach, it's the same as turning on only one water pump and having water pressure everywhere.

Odd, my 2015 GT only has one hot water tank. The recovery rate is so quick that one shower can follow the other without any loss in temp. I must add that I've instructed the family that the showers are for cleaning one's body not for lingering therapeutic reasons.

The recovery is very quick, but we can take 2 showers and do a load of laundry, at the same time.

My bigger concern would be water pressure. I suspect that if we turned on both showers at the same time, there would be a lot of screaming.
Note: somewhere after my 2015 GT 364 was built, FR added a second water heater to the GT line.

Do you have 2 water pumps like I do also?

Evidently, along with the second water heater, they also added a second water pump. BTW, we rarely use both pumps at the same time, but I did just to test them out. We are usually on full hookups and only use pumps while traveling.

Thanks for the info. Didn't realize these new posts were added and hadn't checked in a while.

Good to know.
