AC replacement recommendations?- Georgetown 364TS

Hey all-

Looking for crowd sourced input on an AC replacement and any lessons learned.

Recently picked up a 2016 Georgetown 364TS after alot of discussion on this thread and some detailed inspections. Great decision, and thanks to all on the thread (especially Ray and a couple others) for aiding the decision making.

Living in it now, my front A/C is OEM (Dometic, 15k) that I am convinced was originally manufactured poorly, under charged, and runs derated (temp delta of about 8-ish degrees when it should be 16-20) and the condenser freezes up daily. I have to cycle it between fan and A/C to help it stay ice free in the heat of the day. My rear A/C (also OEM, Dometic 15k) runs almost constantly and maintains an 18 degree drop with no problem, as expected. I keep the thermostat in the low to mid 70s when I am away for my doggies.

Living in coastal Alabama, I kinda need both A/Cs and, as an engineer having done some significant evaluation, I've come to the conclusion that the smart call is to simply replace the front unit in whole.

With the decision to replace the whole unit, I am brand agnostic, not afraid to spend a little money (I'm living in it!) and have four requirements:

1- Same capacity (15 k)
2- Compatible with the existing form factor and cooling circuit (OEM, no mods).
3- Quiet. (The OEM Dometic sounds like I am on the Atlanta Airport flight line!!!)
4- Reliable.

Not a "now" thing but a "soon" thing, I will be getting on the road for a significant walkabout around the northern US and, best case, could have something waiting for me when I get back. Not afraid to wait for the right product, I know there's a backlog for good A/C units right now. I'd rather get it done right than get it done fast.

I am sure there's a ton of folks out there (including 270S- appreciate the thread!) that are thinking about or researching A/C replacement, or have done it, and looking for your feedback.

Any other threads or product evals that you can point me to are quite welcome.

Thanks and happy trails to all-
Rich

If you read the thread a few below you ( https://www.forestriverforums.com/fo...in-234322.html ), you will see what I just went through. I replaced my front Dometic 15K with all of the same symptoms, but further along. There were a bunch of Dometics with manufacturing defects that Dometic is NOT standing behind if it surfaces after 2 years vs 10ish. Read the thread for full details.

"Dometic" is a bit too general. What is the exact model number? Is it ducted or unducted?

And heat pump or not.

Unfortunately you have to climb up and remove cover to get actual model.

We bought a Jayco Eagle in May. It had 2 Coleman Mach ACs. The height to the top of the front AC, when hitched to my Ram 3500, was 13' 7" allowing 2" of clearance beneath a bridge on US Hwy 2 near my home. Too close for me. I had the dealer remove the AC and planned to replace with a low-profile Coleman Mach 8 which is several inches lower than the Mach. I've been waiting since May and it seems that there are no RV ACs to be had---anywhere. Another Covid-related shortage? Hopefully the OP will have better luck with his replacement. I've also been told that the footprint of the Mach 8 might not be compatible with the framing on my trailer roof. Good thing I'm in Northern Minnesota where it will be only 95 degrees this weekend!
