Adding fresh water at COE parks

We have july 4 reservations for the week at a nice coe park. It only has 30/20 amp power...no water or sewer. I have a 15 gallon tote to help with the grey tank but no solution for water. I have the side bay with the 3/4 inlet for fresh and will need some sort of pump to fill it. Curious what everyone uses? Looking for a cheap simple solution as most of the time we stay at full hookup sites but will have several family with us this time at a nice lake.

Do they have community spigots throughout he campground? If so how far are you from the closest one? Me and my buddy put all of ours together and filled our tanks when necessary. Probably close to 200 feet.

I dont think they do. Unless it has changed since 2006 they have a dump station at the entrance with fresh water fillup too...

If they have a fresh water fillup, you should be able to use that to fill your fresh water tank. We don't have your rig, but most have a valve that you turn to put fresh water into the fresh water tank. Or am I not understanding your question?

I installed a pump from harbor freight in the compartment next to the fill It pumps 3 gallons per minute. I ran a 12 volt power source to the pump with a switch on it so I can easily turn it on and off and installed two short hoses on the pump. one that will reach a five gallon water jug and the other that has a hose connection that goes into the fill port. It makes it very easy to fill my tank back up.

I carry water from a hydrant in a 6 gallon jug, then use the RVs pump to draw it in though the winterization hose. Takes about one minute per gallon.

I have used a fitting called a Water Bandit. It lets you fill from any faucet. I also am set up to fill the fresh water tank with the antifreeze hose.

The antifreeze hose goes in the 5 gal water jug. The RV pump it into the fresh water tank. Just like frozen's post.

What Dave and Chris said. A cheap pump from Harbor Freight. Also, fill before leaving home, or fill at the sewer dump on the way in the park.

Suggested tip

I too use the winterization valve to suck water from a collapsible 5 gallon jug. But i also connected my outside shower to the fresh fill port, using a couple plastic plumbing adapters. I open the winterization valve, connect the shower to the fresh water fill and turn on the shower faucet. It draws water from the jug and pumps it into the fresh water tank.

Has anyone added an extra tank under the RV in between the frame rails just behind the fuel tank? I was thinking about doing this! Maybe a 55 gal blue potable drum? Extra water would be nice for extended dry camping!

adding fresh water at COE parks

I bought this pump at Harbor Freight (https://www.harborfreight.com/12v-dc...=transfer+pump). It $50 dollars, but they always have a 20% off coupon in one of their flyers or on line.
I mounted it to a board and bought some plastic tubing and fittings and pump it out of my (2) 5 gallon water jugs into the fresh water tank. Fast and easy on the back!

Aw......neat idea. So you have no issues with priming? I might just do that.

I went to Tractor Supply and bought a 30 gallon tank that is suitable for drinking water and a pump from Harbor Freight. I mounted the tank in the truck. It's very easy to fill and I don't have to do any lifting.

I also bought a macerator pump and a used 55 gallon blue barrel. I built a rack to sit in the back of the truck and strap both tanks to it. I can empty the gray water tank and fill the fresh any time I want to.

If your really looking for cheap you can buy a hand pump sold at rv supply stores that are used to pump antifreeze in to the water inlet. It has a male hose end. To winterize it will suck a gallon jug of antifreeze dry in about 6 or 7 pumps.

My sister-in-law can empty my tank with every shower. I bought a 50 gallon water tank that I keep in the back of my truck. I can siphon the water into the trailer (my truck has a 4" lift). If I can't use the siphon, I have an extra Shurflo pump, and can plug it into the truck or the trailer. I have a water thief so I can hook to Forest Service spigots that aren't threaded, to refill my 50 gallon tank.

My impression is that the OP is trying to fill his FW tank. Does your FW pump draw water into that tank, or am I misunderstanding?

This is how we did it with our old motorhome too.
