Adhesive for kitchen backslash

I am needing some suggestions on the type of Adhesive that I could use to reattach the backslash that has come loose. It was held up by something like silicone but at least 1/2" thick.
Will 100% silicone work?
What was used is soft and flexible.
Can y'all give me some ideas.

Silicone can be used to adhere things. 1/2 thick? does that mean the gap is 1/2 or the bead of the adhesive is 1/2 thick? Is your backsplash molded into the countertop or free to move?

My backslash appears to have the glass affixed to some type of Hardie board then the Hardie board is glue to the wall. The backslash gave way by the adhesive pulling the plastic off the wall. There is a 1/2" gap between the wall and Hardie board.

Are you sure its just the backsplash pulling away and not the countertop moving? if both are moving you may be able to reduce the gap by repositioning the counter.

Our glass tile backsplash came clattering down in Cincinnati heavy traffic a few years ago and was very startling. I used liquid nails and that is working.

Thanks Geoff. I have two glass backslashes and one fell off 3 years ago. I used liquid nail but it came loose at the same time as the other side did this past week. I was thinking maybe something flexible might work better. The main issue I have is whatever adhesive I use it keeps pulling the plastic printed film off of the wall. Now that I am thinking about it, I might add a few large head screws in the wall for something for the adhesive to hold on to. Thanks for making me think. [emoji848]
