Awning LED Strip

Has anyone added lights like this on a newer Georgetown?

LED Awning Light Strip - iRV2 Forums

Aquiring and installing the lights is no biggie but I'm trying to find out more about wiring solutions. I'd rather not go the old extension cord route.

Here is how I wired mine. I elected not to do the multicolored system and wired all the strip leds together for a blue/white light. I wired to my outside light and turn the strip on off with existing switch in MH.

That's exactly how I'm going to do ours. I'd like to find some yellow ones though.

I already installed a short strip of bright white for the steps.

I installed my led's in the awning slot as highlighted in f1100's post, seen the same post on iRV2 so I bought some from Amazon. They fit easily. Yeah, the extension cord etc. was a pain though. The problem I came about though is towards the end of the season I went to plug the lights in, didn't light. The end piece that attaches to the transformer type thing got chopped off by the awning arm when it rolled up. Forgot to take the light strip out before storing the rig for winter so my first project when I bring her home in a couple of weeks (if it ever gets warmer around here) is to try and solder the end piece back on. If that don't work, I will buy another light strip because they are cool looking and as bright as you want them to be.

Al, where did you wire the strip to? On my 351, the existing step light is only on for a few moments when the steps open. I had the thought of doing exactly as you have, but have not figured out where to wire to.

Wayne, I tapped into the 12v wire for the light under the steps. The light comes on when you open the door and stays on as long as the door is open.
