Batteries in 369 377 and 378

I made the assumption that the three coaches named in the subject matter have the same battery configuration. I was wondering if all of you had the same problems that I have and getting access to the batteries to check water level. My cables and mine are so tired I can hardly raise them high enough to get the tops off of the individual cells. Any ideas would help thanks

On my 378 I use a wooden broom handle to lift the cables in order to access the rear batteries (got this too from this forum!)

i agree they should be on slide. the other option that I thought about was to move the two back ones to under the step. i think that is where they originally were located.

377

I wish I had the problem of it being difficult to check the water in my batteries. In the 377, I only have 2 batteries so the space under the stairs is very spacious. However, I barely have enough battery capacity to overnight with my 2-12 volt batteries. I would love to have at least 3-12 volts or 4-6 volts.

I’ve been trying to find a solution to add to my batteries.

I think your tray is the same as on my 378. 4 - 12 volt type 27 batteries fit, but are snug.

Where are your batteries located? I have 2 under the stairs and would love to add 1 to 2 more. If I could do that, then solar would be an option to allow us to boondock without running the generator so much.

I’ve thought about mounting a third battery in the front bay close to the door, but then I would need to balance the battery cables lengths and find a venting solution.

I have 4 they are on the bay just south of the door.
It is good to know that there is a battery tray for under stairs designed for the 378. It can be added to my 369.

My understanding is that 4 batteries were added to run a residential frig.

I'm not sure if this will help, but we swapped out our deep cycle rv batteries on our Arctic Fox with larger AGM batteries and always had exceptional service and rechargability.

My 2015 377TS has four. Two under the steps and two just aft of them accessible from the baggage door just aft of the entry door. I use a big syringe to add water but the caps are hard to remove because of the way the cables are routed.

adding extra batteries

Torklift international makes a bracket that attaches to the frame of ford trucks and probably others that you can add an extra battery. I do not know if they make them for other brands, but it would be worth looking into, or having your mechine shop build one for you similar. The one for my 1987 ford would not fit. The top of the rails are 3 inches and the side is t inches. I have it for sale at a bargin if someone could use it.

Enjoy the questions. My first time to be able to give help.

We have a 2013 377XL with the residential refrigerator but only two batteries. Two batteries are very marginal in this situation. I’m glad to hear how others have managed to get 2 more into play.

If the batteries are that difficult to access I suggest that you use AGM batteries. Never have to add water and they don't need venting.

A flow rite watering system makes inspection unnecessary and watering easy. Available for 12 or 6 volts.

I will look into the watering system. I still have the problem of the cables. They are so tight you have ton use something to pry them up and it is very difficult to get the caps of.
There is always something.
