Battery disconnects

I just picked up our new 2022 36d. When I used the battery disconnect right inside the stairwell, it did not cut power to the fridge and a few other things. How do I shut everything off for storage? There are 3 disconnects in the battery bay, push the red button and a side lever pops out. Is that how I shut every down for storage or is there a better way? Don’t want to drain the batteries when it’s just sitting there.
Thanks

obviously i do not know the specifics of your model.

those three disconnects in the battery compartment are not disconnects, they are 12 volt circuit breakers. i would not use them as disconnects.

what you discovered about the factory installed disconnect is quite common. they don't turn off everything.

the common way to disconnect everything is to either remove the negative lead from the battery pack or to install you own disconnect on the negative lead right at the battery. there may be only one cable from the negative battery led to ground so if you install the disconnect there you only have one cable to reroute. there are normally multiple cables connected to the positive battery terminal. you'd have to move all of them from the battery to the other side of the disconnect.

take you time and it will all come together!

As Chickdoe noted, those are high current circuit breakers, not "disconnects". On our GT5 one is for the jacks and one is for the inverter. I think a GT7 may have a third one but I do not know what it does.

The button you're pushing is the circuit breaker "test" button.

Which make and model of fridge do you have?

Several things, such as the propane leak detector, are wired "hot" to the house batteries.

I am not 100% familiar with your coach but as said there are systems fused directly off a coach battery. The 3 red buttoned switch blade circuit breakers are for 1. hydraulic levelers 2. inverter (which powers the residential fridge when off shore power) 3. I think it might be for the bunk over the driver seats. Early models with a residential fridge (and earlier BCC) had its circuit breaker on the coach battery disconnected side of the switch but that appears to have changed (or mis wired). It still stands that if you want to delete all loads from the coach batteries the coach battery ground side defeat may be your only easy alternative.

The model is Thinq.
I’ve called FR too but still don’t have an answer on how to turn the fridge off during storage. What do you do with your fridge between trips?

Is your LG Thinq? a residential fridge running off 110 volts only?

RV fridges can be 12VDC only, 110VAC only, or 3 way propane with 12VDC or 110VAC.

You/we haven’t determined how your fridge operates.

Disconnect all wires on the negative terminal on the battery. PS don't forget to mark them.

It’s a residential fridge, that I was told was 12v.

Ok, so maybe I’M wrong, but…..

I believe when people say it’s a residential fridge, that means it’s like the one found in your home. It’s 110VAC and plugged into a wall outlet.

A 12VDC fridge, is the new way some of the newer RV units are equipped. That being, the fridge is ONLY 12VDC.

Do you have the owners manual to your LG Thinq fridge?
What powers your fridge?

BTW….if you’re not connected to shore power, and don’t have your generator running, and your fridge still is powered……I suspect you could also have an inverter to power the outlet your fridge is plugged in to, and that is getting power through an INverter……not to be confused with a CONverter.

You'll probably need to find the data plate. LG ThinQ seems to be a technology and not a particular appliance: https://www.lg.com/us/lg-thinq

My guess is it will be a residential refrigerator and has an inverter to take 12 volts DC from the batteries and provide the 120 volt AC power that a residential fridge needs. If so, you can either physically disconnect the house batteries or figure out how to kill that fridge inverter.

That may be what that third breaker is for that you have, the residential fridge inverter, but that's just a guess.

I actually took 30 seconds to look it up.

I, too, actually took 30 seconds to look it up. No guessing!

The LG ThinQ line is a line of (at least) 3 residential refrigerators (120 Vac in the US). They are IoT-capable, with Wi-Fi and voice-control (Alexa and Google Assistant), LED lighting, LED Display Panel, membrane control panel, door alarm, ice and ice-water dispensers, and more.

Got it all figured out. The inverter was on. The dealer had turned it back on after our walkthrough.

Thanks everyone

now work out what size inverter you have

and what .. if any other outlets can be powered by the inverter.

you may have an Inverter / charger

good time to study up on how your system works

BTW google 2022 36d to try and work out what RV you had

first result was

glad my Mrs wasn't looking
