Not really, nothing wrong with component connections as far as video unless you're looking at 4K, where it lacks is the audio connection which can be bypassed by using a digital optical connection for the audio. We have a new Samsung SUHD which still has component connection however the actual connection is like an RCA mini jack, and they give you pigtail adapters.

HDMI is awesome as long as all your components in the system are compatible HDMI versions. If not it can sometimes be a real PITA. Especially with the top of the line equipment we get in an RV.

Don't forget to mention the new HDMI 2.0a standards for HDR which will require the entire camper to be rewired with new & expensive unobtanium HDMI cable! [/sarc]

Run an HDMI cable from the DVD to the TV will also improve picture .

No HDMI output on the player...just composite.
