I do pretty much the same except with Gerbils instead of Hamsters. I find they run faster and clean better.

Use it in all 3 tanks.

Take a look at Arm & Hammer "Rain Drops" instead of the Calgon. Both are water softener agents for clothes washing, etc. Last I remember, Rain Drops was about 1/4 the price of Calgon on Amazon

Did you ever get a result from the liquid separating?

Black tank recipe

Lots of good info so far...but what we do is pay a visit to our local nuclear power facility and ask if we can have a few gallons of their waste water reactor coolant from the storage pond. Throw that stuff down the toilet, swirl it around, and you're good for the entire season. An unexpected benefit is that since the TT now glows brightly in the dark, it's really easy to find our campsite at night

I used the use the Geo method.. Did not seem to make a huge difference other than more work. I now use the blue streak method a valtera back flusher and lots of water when we dump. I also do not dump until full (by site and sound notnsensors) for the black side.

X2!!! We use odorlos instead of blue streak and lots of water with auto flush and backflush. Been doing it for at least 15 years with great results. Simple, easy, fast, and very effective.

It is still sitting undisturbed and has not separated. I can't explain what happened last year. Will continue to leave it on the shelf.

I just got home from WalMart. Liquid was what they had. How much liquid Calgon would you use in each tank?

I would be a little hesitant to use bleach that is called for in the GEO method. I may be wrong, but I don't think it would be good for the valve rubber seals.

I use a CAP ful of Calgon Liquid and a CAP ful of DAWN Liquid Dish Soap about every third tank. I also have the Blue Streak which injects the perfect amount of tank treatment with EVERY flush. Been doing this for years with great results.

I use the super cleaner too but I also put in a 10# bag of cubed ice before hitting the road. About once year it does a good scrub jobl

I think the black tank already has nuclear waste in it. 😷

If you use superclean in the blue streak it is no longer a blue streak? Should be a Super Streak. Pine sol works good in our tanks.

I have always been afraid to use strong chemicals in my holding tanks, not knowing what effect they would have on the seals. I prefer Kronen Holding Tank treatment. It's got the microbes in it like the municipal sewage treatment plants and doesn't have the strong formaldehyde odor that a lot of tank treatments to. I also use it in my gray tanks to help keep them clean, especially the galley tank to keep the soap scum under control.

Clean water after flushing/ emptying the tank. add some more water, about a quart and put a squirt of dawn in there, so on the way home it will clean the tank.
