Bolt for Lippert Step

Forest River replaced my Lippert Step with A Kwike step. Now I have two shoulder bolts for the Lippert for the step. I'm at site 281 at the Frog Rally.
After the second one sheared I thought I needed a back up. Now I don't need them. Thank you Forest River!

Look in the library of this forum, miscellaneous documents, lippert triple step illustrated parts list. I used this for the part number for the bolt and contacted Lippert direct and they sent me a new one next day air free of charge. Good luck.

Falcon, what were the circumstances surrounding FR replacing your steps?

I had the bolt that goes through the center of the step brake twice. When that happens the steps collapse. I saw here on the forum that FR was now putting kwicke steps on the new Georgetowns and had replaced a customers steps.
Our GT is a 2012 but two sites over from us at the Rally the also replaced the steps on 2009.
If you do a search on the forum you will find a number of owners have had that problem with there steps.

FR replaced Lippert steps at factory in January and the bolt sheared off during trip in June. It's getting a Kwikee installed now. LIppert puts out some real Chinese junk!

I don't know if there Chinese but they are junk. I talked to some one from Lippert at the rally and I told him that I had my Lippert steps replaced with an other brand. His comment was I'm not proud of our steps.

Made in Cina. As well as Lippert's hydraulics that have been leaking for over a year despite new pump motor,

Call FR, they are replacing the Lippert steps with Kwikee, allegedly better product.

The double ball joint assembly failed on our Georgetown's Lippert steps last night causing the steps to collapse while the wife was on them. Fortunately, she was not hurt.

Because of reading about all the problems with the Lippert steps on this forum, I had replacement parts with me (a good thing since we are currently in rural North Dakota). While it was only a 20 minute job to fix, after also replacing two step motors and the center bolt in the past year, I think I'm done with the Lippert steps. Next time there is a problem, I'll consider purchasing a Kwikee step replacement.

That is nice. What did you have to do to getr them to send you a new one? Did you send an email to Steven?

Take a look at this article about the Georgeotwn steps breaking and the lawsuit someone filed against Forest River and Lippert back in 2010 I think.

No, actually it was April Conner. Just sent an e-mail to her stating that I had a 2nd bolt break on my steps and asked for advice.

Iggy, also, April confirmed today that the wires in the roof are there for a powered fan. Any guess on which wires? One of the browns an the white?

Also, I wonder what the result of the 2010 lawsuit was??

I just replace the whole lippert steps on my coach. It's only 3 months old.

The pivot bolt for the half moon gear sheared right at the threads. Common issue with these steps
At first lippert only wanted to replace the bolt until the repair shop said the bolt was welded in place and the bushing was bad
Lippert then sent a whole step assembly.
Forest River now tells me if it happens again they will replace the steps with a Kwikee brand. Forest River was very apologetic about the problem.
I reported my concern with the Federal NHTNA and have a report going so if there are other problems like injuries they will know about it and maybe issue a national recall for the steps.
My wife was going up the steps when they gave way but caught herself and didn't get hurt. A three foot drop is not a good thing!
