Smile Broken Storage Lock

Has anyone had a storage compartment lock break where whether locked or unlocked it won't open?

I have a 2005 Forest River, Georgetown XL motor home.

I have sprayed the lock with silicone and attempted to pull the lever countless times to no avail.

I thought about drilling it out to replace it with a new one but don't know if that would possibly damage the lever components while trying to remove the lock and then I would have to buy a new lock and a new handle/lever.

Please help!

Thank you!

Jeremy

The handle, lock and mechanism is all one piece on our MH so if you drill lock and get it to open then just order a whole new unit.. It is held in by 4 screws on the back side
