We camped at the Exhibition Coal Mine Campground a couple of years ago. Cost is $25 per night for full hookups. Clean bathrooms and if you have time there is an old coal mine there that you can take tours of. Really interesting.
City of Beckley
Here's a link to it.

I head that direction too and always choose to go Further and stay at the KOA in Wythville,VA. Just off I 81. It's just after you leave I-77.

If you go to Wytheville, VA take a look at Fort Chiswell RV Park.
We camp there with the travel club and it is a great place.
Friendly staff, excellent shower facilities, and a pool to wind down.

Tamarack will let you park for free. No hookups, but hot breakfast in the morning!

Check out. Campcreekstatepark.com
It's about 20 miles south of Beckley on I-77. Exit 20
The park is just a few miles from exit

Gas is one of the main reasons Wythville is a must stop. $0.40 less than where I'm from.

just wanted to give an update. we made our trip and stayed at Fort Chiswell RV Park. The Lady there was cute as a button and was so sweet. The Camp Ground is on the smaller side but clean and easy to get in and out of. I liked my first stay there so much i stayed there on the way home also. It was easy on and easy off from main rd and has a gas station right around the corner. The only thing i would say is next time i will try another campground closer to beackly as it was harder driving the extra 1-2 hrs in that leg of the trip. Beackly is exactly my halfway point and is less harder on my old coot body..lol

Beckley Campgroung

My wife just completed a round trip to Hilton Head Island. Stopped at Fort Chiswell on the way down and back up.

It was towards the end of the day on both trips. Friendly staff, decent facilities and price. We pulled into our pull through spot, stayed hooked up and left early.

Good stop over.
