Can awning remain pitched to be stored?

So we were enjoying our new MH and decided to pitch the awning. On the TT, we could pitch the awning and store it. Decided to try and well, one side completed extended and it became uneven. Tried again thinking we just didn't tighten enough....same thing. So did we do something wrong or these awnings can't be pitched and stored?

This is a 2014 Georgetown.
