Captains chairs bolts

We are in the process of a reno and removed the captains chairs to lay new flooring. We were surprised that the bolts were not grade 8. I am seeing some recommendations for grade 5 and some for grade 8. Which should it be?

I raised my seats as they sat too low. But I did it between the seat itself and the pedestal. Here again was regular cheap bolts. I replaced them with grade 5. I haven't checked the floor bolts. With the size they are I don't think they are an issue. But if you have them in your hand now would be the time to replace them.

Grade 5.....Grade 8

Who cares? The air bags will save you!

Oh wait.....I forgot
Class A gas motorhome units don’t have air bags.

New bolts have been purchased. With all of the changes we have made, it has been quite shocking. Such poor workmanship and little thought given to good use of space. We knew this going in but it’s certainly more apparent to us now.

FWIW, Demco uses Grade 5 hardware to fasten the baseplate on the Equinox and also supplies blue Loctite, not red.

I learned a long time ago that when you increase the strength in one place all you've done is transfer the failure point somewhere else. It "should" all be engineered as a system with shared stresses. (Yes, I do realize we're taking about RVs here...)

How are the seat belts anchored? I'd be at least as concerned with those attach points, especially the shoulder harness to the wall.
