Charging batteries while driving

We have a 2015 Georgetown 270. My house batteries do not seem to be charging while I am driving. I went to move the motorhome and the chassis battery was dead. Strange because I just drove it Tuesday. Tried the battery boost and nothing. Jumped the motorhome and she started right up but the house batteries through the shunt showed a draw instead of a charge. Are these issues related in some way? Thank you in advance for all your help.

When you jump the chassis to start
You are drawing power from the house and using that power to do the jumpstart

Sounds like you may need to get your chassis battery fully charged and tested
8 years old may be on its last legs
If if sits in storage a lot then I would make sure some sort of tender is used to keep the batteries topped up… lead acid

Your chassis battery may be the reason the coach batteries are not charging from the alternator. Open and scroll to THEORY OF OPERATION.

They did before and the house batteries never went below 85% state of charge

I made the wrong post for this thread. You don't have a B.I.R.D but you do have an SDC-107A battery control center. The good thing is the cross charging is almost identical to the B.I.R.D. so all is not lost. Sorry.

This actually is a fairly common failure with the SDC-107A Battery Control Center. There is a heavy duty contactor that fails.

The vendor is reported as very helpful but with it being a holiday weekend they may not be available. There is troubleshooting information at the bottom of the product page: https://rvcustomproducts.com/sdc-107a

A few people simply found an equivalent at a local auto parts store.

Be DARN certain to take a picture and label all wires before taking the old one out. Also be DARN certain to take precautions about a cable shorting to ground or you can cause a fire and serious personal injury.

Until you get it repaired just run the generator while driving. If the house batteries are connected the generator will power the converter and charge the house batteries.
