My father had a spare Digital to Analog TV converter. I got it from him and installed it for my bedroom TV. Much cheaper than buying a new TV and mount and it works great.
It was rough getting that heavy tube TV out by myself. And when I did get it out I was amazing at how dirty it was back there. It took several rags and a lot of cleaner to get all the nasty black dust off of everything back there.
So if you have a tube TV like mine in your bedroom here is how you remove it. Remove the four wooden plugs on the wooden bezel that surrounds the TV. Under those there will be four screws, remove those. You may have to remove the surround from the rear window because it might be in the way. Once you've got the bezel off you'll find that the TV is bolted down to that board that it's sitting on. There are two screws right at the front of that board that you can get to. Remove those and now the TV will come out.
However the TV was plugged into a power outlet and antenna jack behind the drawer below the TV. So once I had the TV balanced on my shoulder I realized that I'd have to put the TV back and remove the drawer to get things unplugged.
It was a bit of work but it looks pretty good now. And of course the picture is great. Total cost $0
